Suboptimal Solution

In a recent interview where in Alexander Stubb, (former finnish prime minister and possible replacement as head of the European Commission) he described the process of getting a deal made as three steps, "Crisis, chaos, suboptimal solution".

In hearing this Fraser Stewart, 1986, identifies this as similar to his own methods of making art. Upon being invited to make the exhibition at Zoete-Broodjes, Stewart who is always up for an unorthodox material experiment decided to make a site specific work using materials that can be described as suboptimal solutions. Made in a self constructed race against time who know what will come out of it.

Fraser Stewart   has been active in Amsterdam since 2009 and received an MA in artistic research from the Dutch Art Institute. He was was a resident at the De Rijksakademie, 2014-15 and European Ceramic Work Centre, 2017-18. He currently has a show ongoing at Gallery VZL Contemporary, Ruff Draft. His work has been shown throughout the Netherlands and abroad.
