The work of Maaike Knibbe can be described as an ongoing search for places in which the known is rearranged and mixed together with the unknown, paving the way for unexpected logic. This starts with a clear visual image. In the process, new shapes and ideas arise, making the work more definitive of form and less definitive of meaning.
Since graduation in 2013 at the Academie Minerva in Groningen she took part in several exhibitions. 'All is Giving' in the old postoffice in Groningen. Hijacking Karma (in a positive way) in de oude kerk in Amsterdam and Beelden In Leiden. Winner of the Frans de Wit sculpture price 2015.
